Junior’s Junior has been bad!

Good morning folks,

I thought you might be interested in this little story, I culled it from USA Today;

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) — Al Gore’s son pleaded guilty Monday to possessing marijuana and other drugs, but a judge said the plea could be withdrawn and the charges dropped if he successfully completes a drug diversion program.

Authorities have said they found drugs in Al Gore III’s car after the 24-year-old was pulled over July 4 for going 100 mph in his Toyota Prius.

He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription, and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney’s office said.

Jaime Coulter, senior deputy district attorney, said Gore’s sentencing will be continued until Feb. 7. If he has complied with all the conditions of the diversion program, the sentencing will be continued again for another year, with charges possibly being dropped in 2009.

“At that point, he will be able to withdraw his guilty plea as if he never entered it,” Coulter said.

Well there it is. Nothing left to be said. Al Gore III is in trouble again and his daddy former Vice-President turned (sort of) enviromentalist bailed him out yet again. Lucky!

Allan Stokke, his attorney, is putting the same type of spin on this as do all the other rich lawyers.

“He’s actually doing more than what other people do as far as treatment goes,” Stokke said. “He’s got great family support.”

He’s got great family support all right. Junior’s Junior has a father with a big bank account and plenty of support from his friends in Hollywood. Perhaps Gore 2 could have held a fund raiser and get George Clooney to call on the rich to help bail out the kid. Or better yet Gore might have another documentary made about the effects of drugs on his son.

Dibs on the name A REALLY INCONVIENENT TRUTH.

“Deputies who pulled over Gore said they discovered less than an ounce of marijuana and a variety of medications, including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. Authorities said he did not have a prescription for any of those medications. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for speeding.”

An interesting list, huh? And thank God that the cops also got that speeding infraction on paper too. I’d hate to think he’ll get away with anything.

And don’t you like how they describe the marijuana bust? “Less than an ounce.” So that’s supposed to excuse it? I’m all for legalizing marijuana in truth, but until it is legal you can’t have grass on your person. And Gore 3 had grass on his person.

These further details I picked up on Reuters;

“During a brief court hearing in Laguna Niguel, California, Albert Arnold Gore III also agreed to enter a nine-month drug treatment program. If he completes that program successfully by February 7, a judge would ultimately dismiss all of the charges against him, prosecutors said.”

And if he doesn’t complete the program or falls off the wagon, the judge will give him a second, third or fourth chance.

“Gore, whose father is now a leading fighter of global warming, was driving an environmentally friendly hybrid Toyota Prius at about 100 mph on a freeway south of Los Angeles on July 4 when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy at about 2:15 a.m.(0915 GMT).”

Night owl, I guess. But you have to respect that while driving so recklessly, risking the lives of other drivers and pedestrians alike, he’s doing it in an eco-friendly car.

“The youngest child and only son of the former vice president and 2000 Democratic presidential nominee, Gore has had previous brushes with the law. He was arrested in 2003 for marijuana possession and in 2002 for suspected drunken-driving.”

Good thing daddy bailed him out or he might have had to learn something.

“In 1989, at the age of 6, Gore almost died when he was hit by a car and required extensive surgery and physical therapy.”

Oh Jeez! So I guess that excuses all of his behaviour. He was injured as a child and it’s okay. Maybe if he kills someone too, we can have an intervention.

He graduated from Harvard in 2005.

So?

And we finally conclude this little opus with the final quote from USA Today;

“He now lives in Los Angeles and is an associate publisher of GOOD, a magazine aimed at young people that is about philanthropy.”

That has to be the funniest thing I ever heard. Gore is not just a promoter of philanthropy, but he’s also a role model for the teenagers. And what exactly is he teaching them? He’s teaching them you can get away with anything as long as you are rich.

SSDD. My new motto. I am becoming a broken record unfortunately, because nothing ever changes. The rich continue to benefit from their station in life and the poor populate the prison system. It gets tiring saying the same thing over and over again.

My only thought now is; I wish I were rich.

I bid adieu,

your Origami reporter,
L.Manly

    Wait, can’t you see this was a clear case of police entrapment? I’ll sum up with the crucial evidence: “going 100 MPH in his Prius”. We Lefty Liberal Prius drivers know you can’t get one of those green machines much over 60 and and not for very long! It’s so obviously a frame up and planted evidence.

    ROFLMAO!

    I actually like the Prius and if I could afford one, wouldn’t mind it. 60mph is better than the what, 2mph I can do on my tootsies.

    You should have been in California when they first came out. They were GIVING THEM AWAY. Literally. California had a huge quota on Toyota that for every XX number of their cars they imported, they had to put X energy efficient hybrids on the road. Then there were all those tax incentives. Now five years later, my Prius is worth more used than I paid for it in the first place. Alas, they’ve become so popular, all those incentives ended.

    But you’ll live longer walking rather than riding. So you’ll have the last laugh.
