Heath Ledger: Let him RIP!
Hello All,
As you all know by now actor Heath Ledger died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. A sad end for a talented young man. But what kind of end was it?
I don’t care, no one else should care and it’s none of our business. All that matters is that he left behind a 2 year old daughter who will never know her father and a grieving family. My condolences go out to them and to Ms. Williams, Heath’s ex-fiancee and the mother of Matilda Rose.
Ever since I learned of his passing on Yahoo all I have seen on TV, radio and the net is speculation on how he died. Was it a drug overdose? Did he commit suicide? Was it illegal drugs? Did his recent bout of partying lead him down the wrong path?
First, it’s none of our business! You media outlets out there need to show some ***damn respect! Stop making up s**t or guessing based on second hand accounts. I’m tuned to Nancy Grace and she’s talking about drug residue on money. Her point was said residue may be on money in circulation everywhere, even your own pocket, but that doesn’t mean you’re using it as a straw.
But the implication was there! And for the record, the $20 dollar bill found in his bedroom had no trace at all, so Nancy stop sensationalizing his death for your ratings.
This is an excerpt from the New York Post;
“One cop at the scene said it did not appear to be suicide, but police were still investigating, and an autopsy is scheduled for today.
Ledger was found by his maid and the masseuse with whom he had a scheduled 3 p.m. appointment at his $23,000-a-month, three-bedroom loft at 421 Broome St. When the two women entered his bedroom at about 3:20 p.m., Ledger was nude, lying face down and unresponsive, police sources said.
Pills were strewn around the bed, and there was a bottle next by the actor’s body, police sources said. The maid and therapist called 911 at about 3:26 p.m. Emergency workers were unable to revive the star, and he was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m.
Bottles of the generic forms of Xanax and Valium, both anti-anxiety drugs prescribed in his name, were found in the house, according to law-enforcement sources. The sleeping drug Ambien was also found near his body, sources said. The maid said she last heard the star snoring around noon. “
Now what is wrong with this little article? Where do I even begin?
1. Mentioning that he was found nude on his bed is irrelevant, that’s merely to make it seem more seedy.
2. It did not appear to be a suicide? Instead of hinting at such a thing, why not wait until the autopsy results are in and print the facts.
3. All the police sources were wrong as it was later announced that NO pills were strewn about the room! All pill bottles were sealed nice and tight.
4. Why do we even care how much he pays in rent? Is that supposed to go to character, make us poor people have no sympathy? Or maybe show us that he’s a big time star who can afford such a rent and therefore his death can be sensationalized by the Hollywood code.
I perused through many other articles that day and this what I found.
CNN was less about sensation but had to mention he was naked in bed and that drug overdose/suicide may have been the cause. Test results pending. They did get the pills fact right.
New York Times (whom published at 4:42 pm that same day) more or less repeated what CNN but stressed there was no suicide note in the same breath as saying it may or may not be suicide. CNN mentioned the note later in their article.
TMZ surprisingly was more vague (possibly respectful) in their reporting. They left out his nude body, or that it might have been a drug overdose or a suicide. They do mention that prescription pills were found near his body and actually claim that paramedics said that he was in full cardiac arrest. A cause of death that while unconfirmed doesn’t hint at anything sordid.
More recent headlines mention that;
1. The autopsy was inconclusive, more tests pending.
2. The aforementioned $20 dollar bill was found in his bedroom.
3. Heath was edgy and anxious over Christmas due to not being able to see his daughter.
So what those 3 headlines say is;
1. We still don’t know what killed him. Let’s hope it’s something real bad to sell more papers.
2. Maybe illegal drugs were involved though the police have confirmed it wasn’t the case. We can still infer something illicit.
3. Well he must have been suicidal then, huh?
Myself, I would be happy with a simple article such as this:
HEATH LEDGER (1979-2008)
San Antonio - Oscar nominated actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Emergency Technicians called to the scene failed to revive him and he was declared dead at approximately 3:30 pm. Autopsy results are still pending.
How’s that for an article!?
Goodbye Heath, sorry to see you go.
